This class will discuss how plant-based foods are effective for weight management and prevention of chronic disease. We will also focus on getting ready to start a plant-based diet, including what the diet entails, what groceries to purchase, and what a healthful menu looks like. You'll get some tips and suggestions for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, and a demo of a few easy and inexpensive recipes. The Food For Life Kickstart Your Health series introduces participants to a journey toward healthy weight loss, healthy weight maintenance, and an overall healthful and sustainable diet. In this series, we will discuss how incorporating more plants into your diet can not only lead to maintaining a healthy weight without restriction, but can help to lower cholesterol, control diabetes, lower blood pressure, and even boost energy and mood. We will also have virtual cooking demonstrations of some easy plant-based recipes in each class, and you're welcome to cook along at home!
