Are you curious to learn how nutrition and our diet are involved in maintaining and restoring health? Want to learn more about a plant-based diet, but not sure how to start? Then the Food for Life Kickstart Your Health series is for you! Register for the entire series, and you receive a $20 discount over registering for each class individually. The Food for Life Kickstart Your Health series introduces participants to a journey toward healthy weight loss, healthy weight maintenance, and an overall healthful and sustainable diet. In this series, we will discuss how incorporating more plants into your diet can not only lead to maintaining a healthy weight without restriction, but can help to lower cholesterol, control diabetes, lower blood pressure, and even boost energy and mood. We will also have virtual cooking demonstrations of some easy plant-based recipes in each class, and you're welcome to cook along at home! This 7-week series includes the following classes: The Power of Your Plate: This class will discuss how plant-based foods are effective for weight management and prevention of chronic disease. Let's Go!: This class will prepare you to start a low-fat, plant-based diet, and plan to implement plant-based meals for the next 21 days. Getting in Gear: This class will approach dining out on a plant-based diet and provide guidance on how to order at different restaurants. Breaking the Food Seduction: This class will discuss why certain foods are so difficult to give up (cheese anyone?) and what we can do to break these addictions. Keys for Natural Appetite Control: This class will discuss one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in the American diet- fiber- and how it relates to health, appetite control, and weight management. Digestive Health: This class will discuss how a plant-based diet can help to keep our gut healthy and happy. Healthy Blood Pressure: This class will discuss how a plant-based diet can help lower blood pressure within a short timeframe.
